Getting Started
Welcome to WordPress at CERN!
After careful evaluation, CERN has adopted WordPress as our official content management system to provide a more streamlined, secure, and user-friendly web experience. Designed to support our diverse web communication needs across the Organization, this transition aims to enhance how we communicate both internally and with our global audience.
The overarching goal of WordPress at CERN is to transform your experience from being a web developer to being a content creator. This shift allows you to focus on what truly matters—your content—without worrying about updates, compatibility, module integration, and other technical concerns that will now be handled centrally.
Whether you are creating content for a department website, a project showcase, or your personal research page, WordPress offers the flexibility and functionality to effectively share your work. Our customised WordPress implementation addresses the specific requirements of our scientific community while simplifying content management. WordPress at CERN provides you with modern tools to create compelling content while ensuring consistency with CERN's visual identity and technical standards.
We have developed resources, templates, and support systems to help you make the most of WordPress, regardless of your technical expertise. We have further taken steps to integrate both responsiveness and accessibility as part of our design and development phases. This means that content created with the CERN WordPress Theme may be consumed and accessed by all audiences without further action (see Accessibility for more information). Additionally, we have put security restrictions in place to mitigate any exploits.
We look forward to seeing how you will use WordPress to showcase your work at CERN!
